Chinese Folk Art provides oil paintings created by Cun Lei (Spring Thunder) studio. The oil paintings on our website show traditional Chinese themes, including children from the countryside, ethnic minority women, and doorways of houses. For these paintings, the artist uses oil paint on canvases ranging from 9.5 x 11.75 inches to 13.5 x 16.5 inches. Each painting is stretched over an inner frame

Doorways Gallery: In China, the doorway is the face of a family. No matter how rich or poor, families will decorate their door in very beautiful way, especially during holidays. Common decorations are red lanterns, inverted "Fu" (rich and happy) characters, and antithetical couplets. 

Women Gallery: The Chinese population consists of dozens of ethnic minority groups, each with its own special traditional style and attire. You will see many of these traditions as you view the ethnic minority women in our galleries.
